Instructions
With Plastic Wrap

-
Remove the plastic wrap within 4 hours.
-
Do not rebandage tattoo.
-
Gently wash tattoo with lukewarm water and unscented antibacterial soap. Lightly pat dry with a clean towel and apply a thin coat of tattoo aftercare product or unscented lotion with a clean finger.
-
Continue to wash and apply a thin coat of tattoo aftercare at least three times a day, and whenever the tattoo feels dry or itchy, for the next two weeks.

With Tegaderm

-
Leave the Tegaderm on for 4 days, and do not lift, change,
-
or remove during that time. On day 4, remove Tegaderm by slowly lifting at the corners while under running water.
-
Some tattoos will create a pocket of liquid under the tegaderm. That’s plasma, and it’s full of tattoo healing magic! Please leave it be unless the plasma leaks out on its own. If a leak occurs before day 4, remove immediately and continue care as follows.

For All Tattoos/Long-term care

-
Always wash your hands before touching your tattoo.
-
As the tattoo heals, it may peel, flake, or scab. Do not pick at it, and do not scratch it if it’s itchy. Apply aftercare to help alleviate itchiness.
-
While you can shower, do not go swimming or submerge your tattoo in the bath for two weeks. Also, avoid exposure to the sun, sauna, or tanning beds. Your tattoo is a wound, and much like a sunburn, it can be painful in the sun until it’s healed up. After healing, be sure to put sunscreen on your tattoo before a day in the sun to help prevent fading.
-
Your tattoo will take between 4-5 weeks to fully heal. Sending a photo of your healed tattoo is deeply appreciated! We love to see our work happy and thriving. And if you love it, we’d really appreciate your review!

Hand Tattoo Aftercare

-
If using plastic wrap, take the wrap off within the next 4 hours. Gently wash tattoo with unscented antibacterial soap, lightly pat dry with a clean towel, and apply a thin coat of tattoo aftercare product or unscented lotion. Do not rebandage tattoo. Continue to wash and apply a thin coat of tattoo aftercare three times a day for the next four days.
-
Do not wash your hands more than three times a day for the first four days. Also, avoid using the tattooed hand whenever possible for the first four days or more. The less bending, the better!
-
After the first four days, continue to wash and apply aftercare three times a day as well as whenever the tattoo feels dry or itchy for the next two weeks. Feel free to lotion up whenever your hands feel dry -- your tattoo will love the extra care!

-
If using Tegaderm, leave the Tegaderm on for as long as possible, however it’s not likely to stay for longer than two days, and may need to be removed sooner than that. You’ll know to remove it if it’s lifting to reveal the tattoo or if any liquid leaks from the edges of the Tegaderm.
-
When it’s ready to be removed, take off the Tegaderm by slowly lifting at the corners while under running water. After removal, gently wash your tattoo with unscented antibacterial soap, lightly pat dry with a clean towel, and apply a thin coat of tattoo aftercare product or unscented lotion.
-
Continue to wash and apply a thin coat of tattoo aftercare three times a day. Do not wash your hands more than three times a day for the first four days after your tattoo! (If your Tegaderm was on for those first four days, you can skip this step.) Also, avoid using the tattooed hand whenever possible for the first four days or more. The less bending, the better!
-
After the first four days, continue to wash and apply aftercare three times a day as well as whenever the tattoo feels dry or itchy for the next two weeks. Feel free to lotion up whenever your hands feel dry -- your tattoo will love the extra care!

While you can shower, do not go swimming or submerge your tattoo for two weeks -- this includes doing the dishes. If you hand-wash dishes, please wear gloves. Also, avoid exposure to the sun, sauna, or tanning beds. Your tattoo is a wound, and much like a sunburn, it can be painful in the sun until it’s healed up.
-
Hand and finger tattoos are particularly prone to fading, and some of the best ways to prevent that include regularly wearing sunscreen and lotion to keep the skin moist and sun damage-free. Regularly here means regularly -- we suggest adding lotion and sunscreen to your daily skincare for your hands going forward for best results!

Your tattoo will take between 4-5 weeks to fully heal, though we recommend waiting 6-8 weeks for your first touch up.
